9:00am Beach opening day

YAY! Beach opening day. We will follow the same process as last year.

  1. Boat and watercraft entry begins on May 23 at 9:00 am. Members will receive their watercraft stickers when they enter with their boats.
  2. All boats are required to have a valid species sticker.
  3. To store any watercraft/SUP/kayak, members wait in line at kiosk on opening day with watercraft, get all storage stickers, place them on watercraft along with the Town of Truckee inspection sticker. Then proceed to a spot and place watercraft at spot to “claim” a space. No water entry. No one can “save” a spot until you make it through the gate procedure.

Opening Day 2026 Beach will open, weather permitting, Saturday May 23 at 9 a.m. for boat and watercraft entry and storage only, with coffee, juice and donuts. (The beach will have been raked by staff.)

Please note: as a result of many past, unfortunate membership confrontations, there will be no “reserving” of spots for boats or any watercraft under any circumstances unless approved by the Board. There never has been a reserve a spot policy just a lack of Board direction to remind the membership that watercraft storage is a privilege not a right. To claim a seasonal storage spot for your boat, SUP or kayak, you will need to be in possession of the properly stickered watercraft at that time of entry, including the Town of Truckee Mussel sticker. In other words, the first watercraft to the spot gets the spot. No member will obstruct an available storage space with anything other than their properly-stickered watercraft. If you are at the beach on Opening Day or any day of the summer season, and you do not have your boat, SUP or kayak, you will not be able to claim a storage location. (Note: leaving a cone, during the season to go fuel the watercraft, is an allowable example of the use of a cone when returning same day to your previously claimed spot.) The same applies to all areas of watercraft parking, whether it be boat on trailer parking, the wet cove, or racks for storage. No buoys or cones will be allowed on land or in water as a means of space reservation. Members not cooperating with this policy will be asked to leave DLPOA property for re-entry, any further escalation of non-cooperation will be brought to the full Board for review and possible action.
